Five Mothers Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day is May 8th this year. That means you have all of two weeks to get your thoughtful card and gift. Luckily, I have some suggestions/ideas for you-and of course, they’re from small business owners like myself.

1.  For the For the Wine Lover Mother: $15.95cascadecoolers-2
If mom loves wine, then she’ll love this extra thick 5mm Insulated Neoprene 2 Bottle Sleeve. Just make sure you fill it with her favorite wines. Even better- take mom wine tasting and bring a few of these to carry your wine purchases home in. You can order them here.

2. For the #DIY & Home Cook Mom- $9.99

Purple_WiseChefOnionGlasses-1-2

Did you read the article about the girl who lost her eye because glitter got into it?  If you have a #DIY kind of mom then it’s your duty to get these for her. They’re marketed as onion goggles and they are wonderful at preventing tears due to onion fumes or even smoke from cooking or barbecuing. However, they are also perfect for protecting your eyes during crafting moments that involve spray-paint and/or glitter. They come in black and purple. You can order them here or click on the image above. I use mine for all #DIY projects. Of course, I have purple-my favorite color.

3. The Flower Loving Mom: Get Personal, Sentimental… 10.99+

Most moms love flowers. There are a couple of options here:

  1. Bring or send Mom flowers AND send her a card that you’ve designed yourself with an image of the flowers you sent her on it. You can do this on www.chattergoldstudios.com. Just click on the image of the flower you’d like to use and then add your own personal saying or poem to the card. Mom will not only get beautiful flowers for Mother’s Day but she’ll have a card to remember them by, long after the flowers have gone.
  2.  Order merchandise with her favorite flowers on it. You can order all sorts of merchandise from www.chattergoldstudios.com with mom’s fav flower on it: jewelry boxes, T-shirts, coasters, aprons, and of course photographs or canvas prints. There are non-flower images you can use on the site, too. Just use the search bar on the site to look for images of places and things you’d like to put on your card.

4. The Tech Mom: Flexible Smartphone Holders-3 for $23.98

These Cell Phone holders are great for tech geek moms. Mold them into any shape you like. Take them with you on the go. Strap them to your stroller, bike, step machine at the gym or sit them on your office desk. Order here or click the image above to get a 3 pack including a black one, white one and purple one. I use mine to hold my smartphone in my car, one for my desk at work and one at home for when I’m following recipes in the kitchen.

5. The Etsy Mom: You Can Fine Everything for Mom on Etsy

You can find anything and everything for mom on Etsy. It’s one of the best ways to support artists and small business. I’ve put together a treasury here for you to order from. When in doubt, you can also get mom a gift certificate to Etsy, too!

Small Business Product Series: Portable Spider Cell Phone Holder

721577208810.721577208797.721577208803In support of small businesses this holiday season, I will feature a new product or business each week through November and into the first two weeks of December. The first product I will feature is perfect for the man or woman in your life, as a Secret Santa present, stocking stuffer, or as a regular gift for anyone with a mobile device at $17.99 -the bendable Arachno Grip Cell Phone Holder, available on Amazon (yes, on Amazon… did you know that Amazon sells products from small businesses? Yep, they sure do.)

My cell phone never has to touch a dirty surface again; it’s protected from all the nasty germy, surfaces of the world. And yes, my mommy friends are pretty hot on it, too. Every week someone is telling me how they’ve manipulated this thing into a new use.  And it comes in black, white and purple (my favorite).

My Top 5 Uses So far:

spider

1. Car Cell Phone Holder. I use it to hold my cell phone in the car as I use Google maps (Siri, lead the way!)-which I use every day. Nope, I have no sense of direction.

2. Keeps your kid quiet in the car. Hang it off the front seat head rest and you can suspend your iPhone or iPad (might need 2 if you’re using a full sized iPad) so junior or princess can watch their favorite cartoon or movie in the backseat. Perfect for road trips so nuggets stay quiet.

3. Keeps your kid quiet while potty training. My friend is trying to potty train her daughter and her daughter insisted on watching a movie instead of going potty, so what did my friend do? She put the movie on her cell phone and propped that bad boy up on the spider securely next to the toilet. Voila… quiet potty time.

4. Hands free music, chatting, and face time on the go. Wraps around handles of strollers so you can chat away while taking baby for a walk or listen to music on your cell phone. For the non-mommies like me out there, I use this to suspend my cell phone off of gym equipment at the gym. I just refuse to let my phone touch any of that dirty germy gym equipment (yes, I might be OCD).

5. Keeps your iPhone & iPad safe from wet counter tops and table tops. If you’re like me and use online recipes a lot while cooking, but always have wet counter tops (because you’re cleaning or spilling while cooking), this is ideal for keeping your iPhone or iPad dry as you consult your recipes.

Enjoy and you’re welcome!
