Best Little Tea House in Boca

Image

Another wandering around Boca Raton produced yet another great find:  The Spice & Tea Exchange.  This wonderful little find in Mizner Park provided me with a wonderland of teas, spices, specialty salts, sugars, and oils- everything a foodie could love.  If you love cooking… and drinking tea, this is the place for you.   Take at least an hour to wander around this wonderful place.  “Come in And Smell the Spices!”  Their top selling teas include: Green tropical, Black Chocolate, Coconut Oolong, Mystic Dragon Tea, Mango Green, Pear Caramel, Ginger Turmeric tea, and Hazelnut Plum.  Best selling spices include: Tuscany Blend, Butcher’s Rub, Backwood’s Hickory Rub, Pirate’s Bite, Expresso Steak Rub (dying to try!), Black Truffle Salt, and Crazy Chicken to name a few.  Enjoy!

Holistic in Boca With Nature’s Symphony

I was wandering around my neighborhood the other day and stumbled across this cute little aromatherapy store, Nature’s Symphony. At first I noticed the sage sticks and the sarcastic side of me responded with “Sage sticks in Boca? How appropriate”  but then I was drawn to the organic oils, soaps, perfumes, candles, lotions, creams and even doggie soaps-OH MY!  I found heaven for a brief sweet smelling moment.  I spoke with Pat, the owner, and she explained how their oils were all organic and how aromatherapy can help in healing everyday ailments. Right up my alley.  I’m a big believer in natural remedies so we got into a very informative discussion. Next time you’re not feeling up to par, stop by and check in with Pat. She will probably have a wonderful smelling tincture for you. Enjoy!

That Little Green Box You See on Facebook

That Little Green Box You're Seeing On Facebook

For those civilians who are not in the visual effects industry (that’s the industry I’ve been a producer in for the last 13 years), you may be seeing green screens on various peoples’ facebook pages. This is a sign of solidarity, standing up for the visual effects artists that work on those movies you love to watch. These artists work around the clock every day for months on those movies you love, much of the time without overtime compensation-without even going home for sleep or a shower during deadline! Ang Lee, who won for the “Life of Pi” didn’t even recognize his visual effects company, Rhythm & Hues, who MADE his movie so beautiful and who ALSO had to file for bankruptcy BECAUSE Ang Lee didn’t want to pay for the real cost of what it took to create the of “Life of Pi”. Now hundreds of visual effects artists, producers like me, who worked around the clock, are not going to be paid. Those of us with the green screens are showing respect for our fellow vfx artists that slaved on this movie. These are talented, dedicated artists who are responsible for executing the director’s vision, not button pushers. THEY made “Life of Pi.” You can’t low-ball art. Unionize vfx.

We look at the world and see what we have learned to believe is there. We have been conditioned to expect…. but, as photographers, we must learn to relax our beliefs.” – Aaron Siskind

In my life, I have explored several artistic directions: drawing, painting, ceramics, music, theater, graphic design (motion graphics), cgi, and visual effects as a multimedia producer. The most significant visual medium that I have concentrated on in the last fifteen years is photography. Photography allows me to include a personal relationship into the artistic event. Unique personality traits are revealed as I impose a closeness between the subject and camera. My photographs provide a framework for the viewer to experience the metaphor I have guided them to perceive. These metaphors may be suggested at the critical photographic moment or with words, phrases, and sentences as well as specifically color toned areas. To the viewer looking at these photographs, extraneous emotion may be suggested. The words and phrases inscribed may often be verbal contradictions to the perceived interpretation of the actual photographic event. They are chosen to not only evoke a response from the viewer, but questions. I leave it up to the viewer’s discretion to answer these questions.
